360 Sports client Callum Smith insists he is delighted to have won the Volkswagen Specialist Cars Player of the Month at Dunfermline Athletic after an outstanding start to the new season.
At just 17-years-old, the striker won the award for the month of August after a remarkable Betfred cup run for the Pars during which he bagged his maiden goal in a 6-0 mauling of Elgin City.
The youngster also helped himself to an assist against Premiership opposition Hearts in his first full start for the Pars before making appearances in the Ladbrokes Championship against Livingston, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Falkirk, and Dumbarton – even netting against ICT in another impressive outing.
Smith said: ““I’m delighted to receive this award. Three years ago I was just playing boys club football with my pals, then I got signed by Dunfermline Athletic.”
Callum was also called up to the Scotland under-19’s squad by boss Donald Park after a barnstorming beginning to his young career and he scored a brace in a 3-3 draw with Ukraine.
Of his call-up, Smith said: “I’m absolutely delighted with the call-up, it’s brilliant.
“It’s a shock for me because two years ago I was just playing boys’ club football, and now I’m playing full-time football and just got into the Scotland under-19s squad.
“I’ve never been involved with any Scotland squads before, so it’s a brilliant achievement for me and I’m really proud of myself.”
