Hearts duo Jamie Brandon and Harry Cochrane both played from the start as the Jambos were held to a goalless draw at home to Ross County on Saturday.
Brandon stored another impressive 90 minutes under his belt while 16-year-old Cochrane was replaced with 10 minutes to go by former English Premier League star Don Cowie.
The Jam Tarts were unlucky not to come out on top during what was a difficult game against an organised Staggies outfit. Cochrane, in particular, was unfortunate not to score when he went desperately close with an effort from distance that was well saved by Aaron McCarey.
Meanwhile, Dunfermline striker Callum Smith made his 17th appearance of the season for the Pars, starting in a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Dumbarton at East End Park.
Just when it looked like the Sons would leave Fife with a memorable 2-1 victory, Smith popped up with a timely assist for teammate Nicky Clark to head in the leveller on 89 minutes.
Celtic Academy goalkeeper Ryan Mullen watched from the bench as his teammates disposed of Raith Rovers 5-0 in the Scottish Youth Cup. 16-year-old Mullen was rested after his midweek exploits with the Hoops in their 2-0 defeat by PSG in the UEFA Youth League.
And Rangers Development squad stopper Aidan McAdams travelled to Lisbon with the young Gers to square-off against last season’s UEFA Youth League finalists Benfica in a friendly.
The Light Blues were victorious in a 3-2 win over the young Eagles.
